Financing & Tax Credits
Availability of loan programs and incentives changes frequently. Check back for updates!
Loans & Financing – Elmhurst Cool Cities is looking for opportunities with local banks to offer short-term loans to cover Project GREEN costs. We will update the site as information is available.
If you are looking for your own retrofit financing, keep a few key concepts in mind:
Energy audit recommendations are a good tool to determine a range for your loan budget.
Compare the cost of the additional loan payments each month to the estimated utility savings.
A retrofit loan should never add to your overall monthly expenses.
State Tax Credits & Incentives – Currently, all credit and rebate programs in Illinois have expired. We will update the site as new programs are announced.
Federal Tax Credits for Energy Efficiency – If you purchase an energy-efficient product or renewable energy system for your home, you may be eligible for a federal tax credit. Please note, not all products qualify for a tax credit. Check the U.S. Department of Energy’s website for more details: (http://www.energy.gov/taxbreaks.htm)
